The Junior Development Series (JDS) is the best way to teach U7 and U8 players the game at an early age, and at the same time ignite their love and passion for soccer.

JDS features "in the game" coaching methods. By using natural stoppages in the game to quickly imprint an idea the play never stops or slows down.  Expert soccer staff, all former high level players, will play along faciliting proper technique and concepts, and at the same time providing a visual for emulation.

LVU is pleased to announce Ashley Kozicki as Technical Director of the Junior Development Series.  According to LVU Executive Director of Soccer Operations, Greg Ramos, "Ashley was a great choice for this position.  He has a great rapport and ability to connect with very young players.  Ash is also one the best players I’ve ever had the privilege to play alongside.  His ability to demonstrate will be priceless."  Greg Ramos will also assist Ashley in the JDS program.

Starting out in JDP develops, prepares, and fast tracks players for programs such as: YSC Union Juniors, Philadelphia Union Academy, LVU Teams and Select, State and Regional ODP.  Give your child a head start with the Junior Development Series.

Feel like your 7 or 8 year old son or daughter could be getting more out of their local soccer experience?
LVU is excited to announce its latest program, JDS (Junior Development Series).
What is JDS?
JDS is a 5-week play based program for 7 and 8 year olds.
Has your son or daughter ever been a part of a 10-0 loss or win against another local recreational team?
Players and coaches rarely benefit from such games. JDS’s goal is to provide our youngest players with the best possible competition, while avoiding lop-sided scores. This is accomplished by a) separating players by like ability, so that teams will be as even as possible, b) not keeping a formal score throughout play, and c) imposing conditions on certain players and teams that challenge these players in a developmentally appropriate way.
Tired of spending half the game chasing the ball out of bounds for throw-ins, goal kicks, and other stoppages that lose players focus and interest?
JDS is based out of Turff Club, an indoor facility with 2 walled fields ensuring that play is continuous and exciting! The smaller sized fields are the perfect size for these ages, and the controlled environment at the Turff Club provides players and parents without worry when it comes to late winter and spring weather. The Turff Club also has on-site bathrooms, changing rooms, games and food.
Coaches, ever feel like your 7 and 8 year old players just can’t stay focused when you are trying to coach?
Our program focuses on “in game” coaching. Coaches will always be on each field with multiple responsibilities. The most important aspect of JDS is that coaches will play along. Serving as “neutrals,” coaches play for whatever team has the ball, giving the attacking team a numerical advantage along with some guidance as to where to go and how to react to certain situations. If a coach wants to illustrate a point with a specific player, he can do so without having to stop the whole game. He simply stops the one player to make his point, while the other coach on the field continues with the rest of the group. With coaches on the field, players also learn by emulation. Young players are sponges, and the easiest way for them to learn is for them to see it done firsthand.
LVU is confident that this method will not only allow for continuous play, but ensures that our players stay engaged, learn (without even knowing it), and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
