Lehigh Valley to Host “The Beautiful Game”
LVU invites you to become a sponsor of the 2011 Lehigh Valley United Lou Ramos Classic
Labor Day Weekend, 2011 (September 2-4) will bring youth from around the nation to the Lehigh Valley. According to Wikipedia, soccer is the most popular recreational sport in the United States.
Our annual tournament is dedicated to the spirit of Lou Ramos, who died on January 1st of 2008. In addition to his role as community activist with the Allentown school district and the Hispanic community, Lou Ramos was a leader in youth soccer in the Lehigh Valley for over 40 years.
Now a firmly established organization, Lehigh Valley United F.C. (LVU) has created a name for itself on a local, regional, national and an international level. In 2009, LVU was ranked in the Top 20 Soccer Clubs in the Nation (www.nationalsoccerranking.com). While continuing and pursuing Lou’s vision and dedication, the club’s teams and staff are achieving great successes on and off the soccer field through excellence in education, athletics and philanthropy. LVU’s player and parent volunteer program United Gives Back has made an impact in the community through partnership with Community Warriors and Central Elementary School. Teams participate in monthly donations of food, clothing and other requested items. They ran the soccer portion of a program for disadvantaged youth at Central Elementary School, collected money and soccer items for Soccer Without Borders, Haiti, Columbia and Nicaragua and participated in Read Across America. Hotel samples are collected regularly and donated to local churches and shelters. Most recently, LVU has partnered GAVI, an international organization dedicated to bringing vaccinations to all children around the world.
Lou’s dream of establishing a premier level soccer club with a heart has been achieved. LVU has established a scholarship fund in Lou’s name; as a tribute to a man whose life was dedicated to his heritage, his game and his community. Lehigh Valley United is a 501c3 Not for Profit Organization; your donations are tax deductible.
Your sponsorship of our tournament will help keep Lou Ramos’ dream alive in the Lehigh Valley. In cooperation with the Lehigh Valley Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Lehigh Valley Sports Commission, we want to partner with local businesses during this three (3) day event. Over one hundred twenty five (125) soccer teams are expected to attend. The tournament will bring upward of 5,000 people to the area; giving immediate impact for your advertising dollars. Visitors will be staying in local hotels, patronizing local restaurants and enjoying all the Lehigh Valley has to offer.
The links on the upper left of this page list the exciting opportunities we have to offer. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or your own ideas of how we can work together. We look forward to working with you this year and many, many years to come.
Thank you for your consideration The Tournament Committee
