2008 Year in Review

2008 saw the club achieve some amazing things from a competitive, developmental and administrative standpoint.

The Players:

  • 42 player placed in the state ODP indoor invitational pool
  • 2 regional ODP player selections
  • 1 national ODP national player selection
  • 1 regional ID2 camp player
  • 1 player received a tryout with top professional European club.
  • 6 former players sign with the PA Stoners

The Coaches:

  • Added numerous professional coaches to the staff in 2008 in addition to our already established coaches. 
  • Dave Robinson, former college coach, ODP Regional affiliation
  • George Crampton, Desales University, Head Coach
  • Hassan Mouahhid, former international professional and national team player for Morocco
  • Rob Hurley, ODP regional and national affiliation, former Delco coach/administrator and college coach
  • Jennifer Carrigan, former Villanova standout
  • Ari Levit, youth program expert
  • Dave Cartwright, goal keeping expert

The Teams:

  • 1 Outdoor State Cup Champion
  • 1 Region 1 Tournament Finalist
  • 4 Indoor State Cup Champions
  • 28 various tournament Championships,15 various tournament Finalists, 7 various Semi-Finalsits
  • 6 teams ranked top 10 in the State by NationalSoccerRanking.com
  • 2 teams ranked #1 in state
  • 1 team ranked #1 in Region 1
  • 1 team ranked #3 in the Nation

The Programs:

  • Held the first annual Lou Ramos Classic Tournament, a huge success by all accounts.
  • Successful Academy programs in each season.
  • Introduced Project 2009 to initiate younger players into the LVU system.
  • LVU International put players in the unique position to play overseas in Portugal and Sweden.

The Facilities:

  • Created partnership with Turff Club to become the home of LVU, including office and player lounge.
  • Worked in conjunction with Lehigh County Sports Fields on tournament and field maintenance issues.

The Administration:

  • Moved from a loose volunteer structure to a full-time dedicated staff to handle aspects of club administration.
  • In less than one year, secured status as a non-profit 501(c)3..
  • Introduced a dynamic new web site utilizing Demosphere with capabilities of email, online registration, and improved graphic content.

The Future:

  • 2009 holds the promise of some amazing and exciting new projects including expansion of programs, growth of tournament, increased number of teams and player base, partnerships with local recreation programs, expansion of camp program, and the possibilities of teams and players being exposed to the even higher level of play and success.
