FC LVU and State Cup

LVU Boys Dominate State Cup:

Last year LVU took 4 state cup titles home and in 2013, we have duplicated that accomplishment. While perenial state champions LVU 95 and 96 will settle as finalist, LVU 02, 00, 97 and 93 have all taken home the top prize in the state. This display of strength across all of the boys ages, ensures that LVUs future remains bright.

2013 Lou Ramos Classic- Applications are Open!

LVU is proud to host the 6th annual Lehigh Valley United Lou Ramos Classic, fondly known as "The Lou". This tournament draws in top competition from all around the Region and last year hosted teams from Canada and Ohio. The boys weekend is the #1 rated tournament in the country by Got Soccer! LVU is looking for sponsors for this event. New exciting incentives are being offered including a year’s worth of advertising on the walls at Turff Club or at Iron Lakes! Matt Kleinhenz

Congratulations to LVU's own Matt Kleinhenz, a recipient of the 2013 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Scholarship. Great work! The scholarships are awarded for post-secondary education. The $1,000 scholarships are awarded based on community service, giving back to the game of soccer and to honor the memory of Charlotte Moran and Bill Whitney for their outstanding services for soccer and Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer.
Matt will be attending Lehigh University in the fall.

Higgins Called in to National Camp

Kaitlin Higgins of the LVU ’98 girls team has been called in to the U14 National Camp running in May. This camp marks the highest level of play possible in the U.S. at this age group. Kaitlyn has been invited multiple times into National Camp and is the first female athlete from LVU to attain such an honor.

We are very proud to have Kaitlin representing the entire LVU family on the national stage, CONGRATULATIONS!

LVU players Josh Tacca and Chris Tacca were recently recognized for the 2013 Union League Good Citizenship Award at the EPYSA(Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association) Awards Banquet. The Union League Good Citizenship Award goes each year to boys and girls who exemplify a well rounded profile of activities. Candidates must demonstrate exemplary qualities of cooperative effort, self-control, perseverance, serious scholarship and good sportsmanship. The EPYSA recognizes several soccer players in the Eastern Pennsylvania Region for this Award every year.

LVU may have something very special going on at the oldest age group. A team has quickly been assembled and already won the PA State CUup and will be in regional competition at the end of July, This new team will compete at U19, and many players are confident that they can compete for a Region I title. The '03 girls completed a successful Spring season by winning the Rage Flash tournament this past weekend in Reading. After falling in the EPYSA Challenge Cup semi-final 0-1 to eventual champion Lower Merion, the girls finished their season with 4 wins including an exciting 5-3 win over Penn Legacy in the final. The team looks forward to working with 3 very talented new teammates when they resume training in early June.

01 Girls Win Classics Cup

The ’01 girls were champions of the PA Classics Challenger Cup the weekend of May 11/12. They attacked all weekend gaining results against quality competition throughout the entire weekend. The girls had never beaten or tied FC Rev and despite falling behind 0-2 at half time, fought back to begin the tournament with a 2-2 tie. Next up, a first every win over HMMS 2-0. After defeating host PA Classic 7-1, the team faced Lower Dauphin in the final. The outcome was decided early as the girls scored 5 goals in the first 11 minutes of the game and went on to win 7-2. Congratulations!

LVU '02 Girls Win!

Congratulations to the LVU '02 Girls, who won the EPIC premier division on Mothers Day.

They won both the semi-final and final games in overtime 2-1, after being down in both games 1-0. Great comebacks for the girls.

LVU Regional Affiliation Program

Lehigh Valley United is pleased to have recently announced the launching of a groundbreaking Affiliation Program.

The Regional Affiliation Program is a comprehensive program structured to bring the Greater Lehigh Valley area together to promote, develop and improve the sport of soccer. The services offered in the Regional Affiliation Program include administrative guidance and support, coaching education and placement, soccer development programming and competition, and the overall leveraging of a broader range of resources amongst the Regional Affiliation Program partner organizations.

U9 Girls Bring Home First Trophy

The UNITED U9 girls won all 3 games at the Nether Providence Tournament Saturday, March 30th to place first in the event.

This win marks the girls first tournament Championship. We are certain it will not be their last.

97 Gold Girls Team Runs Successful Collection

Thank you to the 97 Gold Girls team for their successful UGB drive for the month of March. "Central Elementary School was thrilled. We gave hundreds of books and they were going to use them all in their new endeavor of starting a traveling library for the kids. There were also toys, games, over 45 pairs of shoes/cleats, clothing, purses and pounds of toiletries." A special thank you to team UGB coordinator Wendy Swartz for all her hard work!

LVU's own Pat Berneski featured in an article about some top recruits in the country. "Stick" has been one of the key players on LVU 95 as well as a stand out on the State and Region I ODP teams. He is committed to Notre Dame.
