She loves helping others learn how to create more balance in their lives.
Richard Vance MS, CSCS, NSCA-CPT
Sports Performance Specialist
Rich specializes in training overhead athletes, especially baseball pitchers. He has a strong understanding of lower body strength development, and he implements training plans around a philosophy that puts injury prevention first. Rich strongly supports tracking and managing external workloads for athletes whenever possible.
Rich’s background in strength & conditioning began in college as a baseball athlete at Birmingham-Southern College. He recognized the benefits of strength training during that time and became interested in workload management after suffering a significant elbow injury that was related to overuse. After college, Rich earned his personal training certification through ISSA, and two years later, attended graduate school at Florida State University for two Master's Degrees in Sport Psychology and Exercise Physiology, respectively. During his graduate career, he also earned his NSCA-CPT and CSCS certifications.
Rich completed his graduate practicum with FSU Athletics, working as a Strength & Conditioning Intern for Track & Field, and also received supervised experience working with Men’s and Women’s Golf, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, and Men’s Club Lacrosse. Additionally, Rich managed GPS workload data for Cross Country and Women’s Soccer. Outside of his graduate studies, Rich worked for FSU as a personal trainer and eventually moved into a Fitness Coordinator role, managing a large student staff and overseeing fitness programming for a 120,000 sq. ft. recreation center, serving 2000+ daily facility users.
Rich joined LVHN in January 2019 and has provided sports performance services to teams at Cedar Crest College, Emmaus High School, Allentown Central Catholic High School, and Parkland High School. Rich also leads strength and speed classes at One City Center alongside our other sports performance coaches.
